She died October 7, 2009, in Redondo Beach, California. Kathy was raised in her hometown of The Dalles in a house her father built. She was educated at St. Mary's Academy in The Dalles for grades one through eight, then graduated from The Dalles High School in 1975. Following high school she attended and Western Oregon University and earned a bachelor's degree in 1979. Kathy taught for several years in Oregon, and then later moved to California, where she worked for about ten years in the airline industry. She later returned to education, teaching special education at the middle school level in the Torrance School District. She continued to teach up until three weeks before she died. Kathy was married to Chris Marshall on July 24, 1994. Kathy took great joy in being a parent, and she was devoted to her family. Kathy died after a two-year battle with cancer. She faced her illness with grace and courage, and never complained. Her faith was central to her life. She was a member of St. Lawrence Martyr Catholic Church. Kathy is survived by her husband, Chris; daughters, Christine and Valerie; and son, Joseph. Kathy is also survived by her mother, Josephine Healy, of Portland; brothers, Jim, Kevin, and Tom Healy; seven nieces and nephews, and numerous cousins and relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, Joseph, in 1984. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
